Description
So, 
was explaining to me about how they envisioned Sonic’s world working, and I thought it was super cool, so I drew, colored, and wrote a little guide for it based on what I was told!
Zones
Zones are areas that make up [Sonic’s World]. Most have set sceneries, where everything stays the same and there are no changes in the sky, weather, or music. For example, it’s never daytime in Casino Night Zone!
Beta Zones
Zones tend to come and go, and some never fully form. These are simply known as Beta Zones. Only the most seasoned adventurers have ever caught a glimpse of some of them, and as a result, very little is known about how they came to be. What is known about Beta Zones, however, is that they’re unstable and sometimes normal physics don’t seem to apply, making them very dangerous.
Special Zones
Special Zones are mysterious interdimensional voids that hold the zones together. These zones usually hold items pertaining to the zones they’re bound to, such as Emeralds, Time Stones, Chaos Rings, and much more.
Emeralds
Emeralds are one of the things responsible for holding the zones together. They can be found and obtained through special zones. There are Chaos Emeralds, Super Emeralds, and the Master Emerald.
Not much is known about the Master Emerald, other than that it keeps Angel Island afloat, it’s very powerful, and Knuckles guards it.
Being in possession of 7 Chaos Emeralds grants the possessor great power, and having the Super Emeralds increases that exponentially!
Rings
Rings are scattered everywhere throughout zones, but little is known of their function.
Who’s in the Know?
Dr. Robotnik - Dr. Robotnik has been studying the special items of [Sonic’s World] for a very long time, trying to determine uses for his nefarious purposes. He considers himself the world’s leading authority on the subject. He still doesn’t know everything, though.
Knuckles the Echidna - Knuckles, the last remaining echidna and guardian of the Master Emerald, has special knowledge of the emeralds in particular due to hints his ancestors left behind for him. The advice itself can be cryptic, vague and some of it lost in time.
